It was strong trade at the Tattersalls Craven breeze-up Sale but Richard Knight was delighted to purchase 3 smart colts with Sheikh Abdullah Al-Malek Al-Sabah which will be trained in the UK.
The first colt purchased was Lot 20 a son of the very exciting sire Zoffany. The colt is the first foal out of the 3-time winner Gems who is herself a half-sister to Listed winners Peaceful Paradise & Frank Sonata. This is the same pedigree cross as Tuesday’s Fielden Stakes winner Ventura Storm who is also by Zoffany and out of a Haafhd mare. He cost 55,000gns and will be trained by David O’Meara.
The second colt purchased was Lot 93 a son of the US sire Congrats. Congrats was a high-class performer over 6-10 furlongs and was leading US first crop sire in 2010. The colt was out of the Listed placed Giant’s Causeway mare Screen Giant from the family of European black-type performers including Secret History, Laureldean Gale & Catch The Eye. He cost 62,000gns and will be trained by John Quinn.
The 3rd colt purchased was Lot 108 a colt named Tumbulgum who is by another exciting young sire in Siyouni. The colt is qualified for French Premiums and is out of the Gr.3 placed mare Tassara from the family of Gr.1 performer Lesstalk in Paris. He cost 175,000gns and will be trained by Richard Fahey.
