The Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale concluded with record turnover and Richard Knight was delighted to purchase 3 yearlings on behalf of trainers William Knight and John & Sean Quinn.
The first yearling purchased was Lot 179, a colt by Exceed And Excel out of the Street Cry mare Eluding. Eluding is herself a daughter of the multiple Group placed performer Without A Trace who is a sister to Listed 2-year-old winner and Royal Ascot placed performer Patience Alexander from the family of Anthem Alexander and Dandy Man. The colt is the first foal out of Eluding and was a strong 2-year-old type by a Stallion who has ‘excelled’ with his 2-year-old performers. The colt cost 75,000gns and is eligible for both the £25,000 Tattersalls bonus and the £10,000 Plus 10 bonus and will be trained by John & Sean Quinn.
The second yearling purchased was Lot 219, a daughter of Helmet out of the Mark Of Esteem mare Giveupyeraulsins who is dam of 2 winners from 3 runners to date viz the dual Group 3 winner and 111-rated Struthan & the 94-rated Srucahan. The filly’s pedigree goes back to Champion 2-year-old Formulate who was dam of Classic winner Shahtoush. Helmet is a first season sire and son of Exceed And Excel and was a multiple Gr.1 winner in Australia. The filly cost 42,500gns and is eligible for the £25,000 Tattersalls bonus and will be trained by William Knight.
The third yearling purchased was Lot 511, a daughter of Zoffany out of the Vindication mare Vindication People who is dam of 1 winner from 1 runner viz Listed winner Freedom Holder. The 2nd dam was a Listed winner in USA and was also Grade 1 placed and produced 2 black-type winners in Midnight Hawk & Mayor Marv. Zoffany has enjoyed an excellent 1st season with his runners and is currently the Leading European 1st season sire with 5 black-type winners including Illuminate, Foundation and Washington DC. The filly cost 50,000gns and is eligible for both the £25,000 Tattersalls bonus and the £10,000 Plus 10 bonus and will be trained by John & Sean Quinn.
