6 purchases made in Tattersalls Book 1 yearling sale

Posted on 22 October 2019

Tattersalls Book 1 yearling sale is Europe’s Premier yearling sale and I was delighted to purchase 6 horses from the sale.

The first purchase was Lot 37, a Mehmas colt out of the Noverre mare Sodashy purchased for 70,000gns. This colt was a sharp, 2yo type and a brother to Listed winner Talk Or Listen and to Listed placed Royal Ascot performer Roussel. He will be trained by Richard Fahey.

The second purchase was Lot 132, an Acclamation filly out of the Halling mare Zigarra purchased for 75,000gns. A medium sized, strong filly she should make into a mid season 2yo and is a sister to dual Listed winner Battalion. She will be trained by Richard Hannon.

The third purchase was Lot 178, a Harzand filly out of the Duke Of Marmalade mare Athenaire purchased for 130,000gns. This filly oozed class and looked a real 3yo type and definitely one for the future. Pedigree-wise she is a sister to the Group placed filly Amazing Lips and by the dual Derby winner Harzand. She will be trained by Roger Varian.

The fourth purchase was Lot 230, a Kingman filly out of the Be My Chief mare Comic purchased for 200,000gns. This filly was medium sized and should make into a mid season 2yo in 2020 and with the fantastic pedigree she has, one eye will always be on her future as a broodmare. As a Kingman sister to Group 1 winners Comic Strip & Laughing, this filly will be a beautiful broodmare for the future. She will be trained by Simon Crisford.

The fifth purchase was Lot 244, an Awtaad filly out of the Daylami mare Dayrose purchased for 45,000gns. A scopey, athletic filly and a sister to Group 3 winner Dubday this filly should make into a Summer 2yo and progress at 3. She will be trained by Mark Johnston.

The sixth and final purchase was Lot 253, another Kingman filly this time out of the Galileo mare Dress Rehearsal purchased for 200,000gns. A quality, scopey filly by Kingman and whose dam was herself a Group 3 winner and has bred a Listed winner and a Listed placed performer. This filly possessed loads of class and will be trained by Roger Varian.
