Just back from Goffs yearling sales and delighted to report that I was able to purchase 5 yearlings on behalf of clients in what was strong trade for the nice horses.
The first purchase was Lot 106 a daughter of first season sire Camelot. This filly is out of the Listed winning Oasis Dream mare La Sylvia who has produced 2 winners from 2 runners to date including the 104-rated Archangel Raphael who is himself by Montjeu the sire of Camelot. The pedigree goes back to the fantastic Shadwell family that includes Champion 3-year-old Al Bahathri who herself produced Champion 3-year-old Haafhd. This filly has a lot of class and is by a very exciting 1st season sire. Cost €45,000 and will be trained by John Quinn.
The second purchase was Lot 176 a daughter of the excellent sire Dark Angel. This filly is the 2nd foal out of the Exceed And Excel mare Muzdaan whose first foal and full brother Parys Mountain was thought highly enough of to run in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot for Charlie Hills. The 2nd dam is the Champion 2-year-old Belle Genius and this filly looks every inch the 2-year-old. Cost €100,000 and will be trained by John Quinn.
The third purchase was Lot 304 (pictured below) a daughter of first season sire Epaulette. Out of the winning 3-year-old Sweet Kristeen who has produced 4 winners from 6 runners including the Listed placed performer Cliché and 2016 winner Al Shahaniya. A scopey, good walking filly she cost €47,000 and will be trained by John Quinn.
The fourth purchase was Lot 344 (pictured below) a son of proven sire Bahamian Bounty. He is out of the winning 2-year-old Yellow Trumpet who has produced 6 winners from 7 runners including 103-rated and black-type speedster City Of Tribes. This colt looks a real 2-year-old and had plenty of class about him. Cost €80,000 on behalf of Al Areen Racing and will be trained by Richard Fahey.
The fifth and final purchase was made in the Sportsman sale and I think was great, great value. The purchase was Lot 574 (pictured below) a daughter of Lilbourne Lad out of the winning 3-year old Insieme who is dam of 100-rated & Group race entered Goodwood Zodiac. It had trainer William Knight & my name all over it as we purchased one of Lilbourne Lad’s best progeny to date in Southdown Lad and William also trains Goodwood Zodiac. This filly cost just €6,500 and as previously mentioned will be trained by William Knight.
