Areen Heart who I purchased from the Arqana breeze-up sale for €240,000 confirmed his debut promise when second at Thirsk by winning on his 2nd start over 7 1/2 furlongs at Beverley.
The son of Exceed And Excel has always been held in high regard by Richard Fahey and went off the odds-on favourite to win his maiden which he duly did. With no pace on jockey Graham Lee had to anchor Areen Heart at the rear of the field and ask him to settle and when asked to go and win his race he skipped around his rivals in the manner of a good horse and won cosily from the well backed Warm Love. Still green and keen throughout his race Areen Heart will improve significantly again and will appreciate faster ground and a stronger pace – he could potentially be quite smart.
Congratulations to his owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Malek Al-Sabah and his trainer Richard Fahey.
