The European Yearling sales got underway in Deauville last week and I was lucky enough to purchase 2 stunning horses by none other than Frankel and Galileo.
The first purchase was Lot 57 (pictured below) a Frankel colt ex Rumored so a half-brother to Champion 2-year-old and Group 1 winner Dabirsim. He really did tick every box and it is no word of a lie for me to say that he was the one horse in the whole of the sale that I wanted more than any other. He oozed class as you can see below and he stood out as a racehorse. From the moment I saw him I just thought ‘Wow’ and so to be able to purchase him was a huge thrill and I am very grateful to have been given that chance. Being a Frankel colt and a brother to a Champion 2yo with these looks I felt he could make close to the €1 million mark so I was very pleased to be able to get him for €550,000. He will be trained by Richard Hannon and I cant wait to see him on the track.
The second purchase was Lot 120 a January born son of Galileo out of the 3-time Group winning mare Bewitched. This colt was big and powerful but as the mare has had a couple of chances and not done it yet he was able to be purchased without spending what I would regard as Galileo money. Don’t get me wrong, he still cost €200,000 but for a Galileo colt who vets clean out of this mare and with these looks he could have made an awful lot more if he was the first or second foal. He will be trained by Mark Johnston and I am hoping that he is the one which puts the mare back on track and that he looks incredible value by the end of his 3-year-old career – there is every chance.
The sales season now moves onto Goffs UK Premier sale which is held in Doncaster on the 29-30 August. If you are interested in purchasing a yearling please give me a call or end an email – +447769349240 or email [email protected]
