With the Northern Hemisphere foaling season starting from 1st January, the start of a New Year is always an exciting time for breeders and those associated with broodmares. It is no different for me as a bloodstock agent and racing/bloodstock manager as I get to see the results of mating plans and broodmare purchases and the start of the dream as to where this foal might end up – Guineas, Oaks, Derby or Champion sprinter is usually the hope !!
And so I was delighted to hear of the first foal born of the year for owner/breeder Hussain Alabbas Lootah, a lovely, strong 57kgs Cracksman filly out of the Group 2 winner Night Colours. Night Colours is also a sister to UK 1000 Guineas winner Mother Earth so this filly is beautifully bred and the hope of replicating her Aunt’s successes on the track are of course the dream. The sire Cracksman for those that don’t know was a World Champion racehorse and winner of 4 Group 1 races including the Qipco Champion Stakes in consecutive years. This filly is Night Colours’ second foal as she has a stunning Camelot yearling filly who will go into training in 2025. Night Colours will now visit the very exciting Darley stallion, Blue Point.
