A step up to 6f and quicker ground saw Dark Points leave 2 disappointing performances well behind him when winning the 6f maiden at Ayr on Tuesday 13th June. The son of Blue Point had shown plenty of early promise on the gallops at Kingsley Park and so this was far more like what we had expected to see despite his starting odds of 16-1. Andrew Mullen reported that he gave him a nice feel and that he will be well suited to a step up to 7f in time.
Dark Points’ dam Dark Rose Angel raced in the same colours for owner/breeder Hussain Alabbas Lootah breaking her maiden over 1 mile on her 2nd start and then finishing a very close 2nd in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes to subsequent 6-time Group 1 winner Laurens. Dark Points is Dark Rose Angel’s first foal and her 2nd foal is a colt by Lope de Vega and she is in-foal to Pinatubo.
Congratulations to owner/breeder Hussain Alabbas Lootah, trainer Charlie Johnston and jockey Andrew Mullen.
