Pablo Escobarr who I purchased as a yearling for €200,000 from the Arqana August yearling sales continued his exciting progression when running 2nd in the Lingfield Derby Trial, L.R. on Saturday 11th May. The son of Galileo sat in behind the Mick Channon trained Severence before taking the lead from 3f out and was only passed by the 118-rated Anthony Van Dyck inside the final furlong. It was a very good performance from Pablo Escobarr and further improvement from his seasonal debut where he was second (giving 7lbs in weight) to Chester Vase 4th Living Legend who also had the benefit of a run.
Pablo Escobarr is still in the Epsom Derby Gr.1 and whilst this is under consideration, races like the Queen’s Vase Gr.2 at Royal Ascot and the Bahrain Trophy Gr.3 at Newmarket will also be considered. As an end of season target the St Leger Gr.1 is high up the list.
Congratulations to his owner Mr Hussain Lootah and to trainer William Haggas.
