Richard Knight is better known for purchasing flat horses but when the chance comes he is delighted to purchase National Hunt horses on behalf of clients.
Golden Birthday was a horse Richard purchased from the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sale in November 2015. He had been placed in a bumper at Punchestown on debut and after purchase was sent to Harry Fry.
Golden Birthday ran two very encouraging races getting placed in big field bumpers at Kempton before getting his head in front at Wincanton over 2 miles yesterday. Settled towards the rear of the field by Champion jockey Richard Johnson, Golden Birthday made smooth headway down the back straight and picked up well in the straight to win going away from his rivals at the line. It was a good performance from Golden Birthday who was giving weight to the 2nd and 3rd horse and he looks to be an exciting prospect for Novice hurdling later this year.
