A change of tactics saw Arqana yearling purchase Pablo Escobarr break new ground yesterday when winning the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at the Glorious Goodwood racing festival. Previously Pablo Escobarr had often made the running but we decided to drop him in and wait with him for as long as possible and jockey Tom Marquand executed the plan to perfection winning by 3/4 length from previous Group 1 winner Desert Encounter. Pablo Escobarr has only once been out of the first four in 14 lifetime starts and was winning yesterday off a rating of 108 – he will likely now receive a rating of approximately 112 after this Group win. Options in front of him include the Canadian International Group 1, Sheema Classic Group 1 or even the Melbourne Cup.
Congratulations to owner Mr Hussain Lootah, trainer William Haggas and his team at Somerville Lodge and jockey Tom Marquand.
