Lady Macapa who I purchased privately as a yearling with my brother William Knight won the Prix du Petit Couvert Gr.3 yesterday in Chantilly. We purchased the daughter of Equiano privately from the breeder in the days following the Doncaster Premier sale where she was led out unsold as a yearling.
Lady Macapa produced a quick return by winning a Plus 10 bonus on just her 2nd start at Newmarket as a 2-year-old and then went on to achieve black-type on just her 3rd start when running 3rd in the Bosra Sham Stakes L.R. As a 3-year-old she won good handicaps at Windsor and Goodwood and was rated in the high 90’s before being sold in the horses-in-training sale for 88,000gns.
This year, her 4-year-old year has seen her placed 3rd in the Hackwood Stakes Gr.3 at Newbury and she has now followed up with this win at Group 3 level in France. 5 or 6f on soft ground seems to suit and we will likely see her out again before the season is completed.
Congratulations to her connections.
