Just 1 week to go until I fly to Ireland for the Tattersalls Ireland National Hunt foals. Here I will be looking to purchase foals for owners to either race or to sell as 3-year-old stores. Last year I purchased a cracking son of Flemensfirth for €40,000 and he has turned into a very impressive yearling and also a racy Milan filly for just €10,000. The sale starts on Monday 12th November and goes on until Thursday 15th November.
It’s a quick dash back home and the office and then back to Ireland for the start of the Goffs Flat foal sale on Monday 19th November which the Part 1 of the sale runs until Wednesday 21st November. Here I will be looking to purchase foals to race and foals to re-sell as yearlings in 2019 – known as Pinhooking. I have been lucky enough to have achieved some great results pinhooking for clients including turning £28,000 into £120,000 in 2017 and £16,000 into £70,000 in 2018. Between Goffs and Tattersalls I will be hoping to do similar again.
The Goffs mare sale follows on from the Part 1 foals and I will be present subject to orders and client requests and then it will be back to the UK and onto Tattersalls. The first Tattersalls December sale is the yearlings on Monday 26th November where 200 high-class yearlings are offered and includes progeny by stallions including Galileo, Frankel, Kingman & Sea The Stars.
Then its onto the Tattersalls foal sale which is held between Wednesday 28th November and Saturday 1st December. Like in Ireland I will be purchasing foals on behalf of clients to race as 2yo’s in 2020 or to sell as yearlings in 2019. Over 1000 foals are on offer in this sale and there will be plenty of high-class horses on offer – this is the sale where I found and purchased subsequent Group 1 winner and now successful sire Garswood for just 19,000gns.
With the foal sale finished attention turns to the mares and once again there are over 1000 mares on offer for sale between Monday 3rd December and Thursday 6th December.
