Speed Company who was purchased by Richard Knight as a yearling for £48,000 from the Doncaster Premier Yearling Sales won impressively at Newmarket on Wednesday 12th April. The good-looking son of Fast Company was making his seasonal re-appearance in a competitive 0-95 handicap over 10f and despite failing to settle at the rear of the field came with a sweeping run to win by 3/4 length. Speed Company’s form figures read 211-1 and he will likely now move into Listed & Group company with the Dee Stakes at Chester a possible target.
In the same race Richard Knight had also purchased the 3rd horse home as a yearling, Southdown Lad and he is another classy colt who will come on for the run. Two good value yearling colts who between them have made 9 starts and won 5 races and it looks as if there is still plenty to come.
Congratulations to all connections.
