The Statesman – purchased for 90,000gns and sold 12 months later for 310,000gns

So pleased for owners Randolph & Mortimer racing as I purchased a horse called The Statesman for 90,000gns at the 2016 Horses-in-training sale and he sold for 310,000gns at the same sale 12 months later. The son of Zoffany had been placed in 2 x 7f 2-year-old maidens in Ireland when purchased and once in the care of Ian Williams has never looked back. Returning to the sale as a 3-year-old rated 95 on the flat (had won 3 flat races in 2017 including 10f class 3 ‘comfortably’) and the 16-length winner of his only start over hurdles he was always going to be a very attractive proposition. The hammer fell at 310,000gns and he will now head to race on in Australia with the 2018 Melbourne Cup as  possible future target.
