The trade for yearlings in Goffs was very strong but Richard Knight was delighted to come home with 2 quality colts for trainers John & Sean Quinn and William Knight. Goffs and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing do a fantastic job of promoting their flagship yearling sale to buyers throughout the World and this combined with the strength of the sterling against the pound meant for strong trade throughout the 3 days of sales.
The first colt purchased was Lot 273 (pictured below), a son of the exciting young stallion Showcasing who is himself already responsible for high-class runners including the Group winners Toocoolforschool, Prize Exhibit & Cappella Sansevero. The colt is out of the placed 2yo mare Mansiya who is the dam of 3 winners from 4 runners to date including the 2015 winner & 88-rated Hunt.
The colt cost €75,000 (approx £55,000) and will be trained by John & Sean Quinn.
The second colt purchased was Lot 502, a son of 2000 Guineas Gr.1 winner Footstepsinthesand who is himself the sire of Group 1 winners throughout the World. The colt is out of the 2-year-old debut winner & 83-rated All Night Dancer from the family of Champion USA sprinter Cardmania.
The colt cost €55,000 (approx £40,000) and will be trained by William Knight.
