Yesterday proved to be a successful day for Richard Knight’s pinhook selections which are due to sell in the October Part 1 catalogue.
The day started well when Pinter won the 7f Nursery at Lingfield having to come from last to first and from the widest draw to finish with a rattle and win with just a hint of ease. Clearly his gelding operation has helped him and hopefully he can progress again to better things.
Pinter was selected by Richard Knight as a foal for 120,000gns and re-sold as a yearling for 220,000gns to Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin operation. And when his sister by Sea The Stars came up for sale as a foal in 2013, Richard selected her once again on behalf of owners Equine Breeding for 135,000gns. With Sea The Stars having enjoyed such a fantastic season and with this filly having improved physically over the past 10 months hopefully there will be a nice profit in her.
Arguably though the best result of the day came approximately 45 mins later when Odeon managed to finish 3rd in the Gr.2 Great Voltigeur Stakes. Odeon who had won his maiden in 2014 by 9 lengths had also previously finished 4th the Gr.2 Dante Stakes but today his 3rd placing added that all-important black-type to the pedigree. This is especially important for fillies and Richard Knight selected his Galileo full-sister as a foal in 2013 for 165,000gns and as already a sister to Gr.2 winner and classic placed Kite Wood, the pedigree received a fantastic update. The Galileo yearling filly also heads to October Part 1.
