873 Lots Catalogued For Tattersalls July Sale
Largest July Catalogue Since 2008

The catalogue for the 2016 Tattersalls July Sale can be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com and will be published on Wednesday 8th June. Numbering 873 lots, up from 803 last year, the sale comprises 667 horses and fillies in/out of training, 204 broodmares, 13 of which have foals at foot, and two yearlings. Taking place Wednesday 6th – Friday 8th July, the three day sale features high quality consignments from many of the worldโ€™s leading owner/breeders including Cheveley Park Stud, Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates.

Long established as Europeโ€™s premier midsummer sale, the Tattersalls July Sale produced the dams of an impressive 13 individual 2015 Group 1 and 2 winners, including Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden winner PRINCE GIBRALTAR, Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap winner SLUMBER and Italian Derby winner GOLDSTREAM, whose dams were purchased for 16,000 guineas, 6,500 guineas and 16,500 guineas respectively.

Eyecatching lots amongst the 204 broodmares include the two Godolphin owned Group 1 winners FAVOURABLE TERMS and EMOTION PARADE, in foal to SLADE POWER and BRAZEN BEAU. Also amongst the 79 strong Godolphin team are the Listed winner ZUHOOR BAYNOONA, carrying her first foal by the outstanding sprinter MUHAARAR and the young Listed placed trio DESERT SNOW, DREAM CHILD and SPELLWORK, carrying March covers to Classic winners NIGHT OF THUNDER, NEW APPROACH and DAWN APPROACH respectively.

Large July Sale consignments from globally renowned owner/breeders consistently attract buyers from throughout the world and mares in foal to proven Group 1 sires including CHAMPS ELYSEES, DARK ANGEL, DUTCH ART, EXCEED AND EXCEL, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, IFFRAAJ, KODIAC, KYLLACHY, NEW APPROACH, PACO BOY, PIVOTAL, SIYOUNI, STARSPANGLEDBANNER, and TEOFILO, demonstrate a catalogue of quality and depth.

With the victory of 12,000 guineas Tattersalls sold JET SETTING in the Tattersalls sponsored Irish 1,000 Guineas fresh in the memory, buyers will also be closely focused on the numerous opportunities amongst the 667 horses and fillies in/out of training.

Winning, unexposed performers from the sizeable Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell consignments will as ever attract plenty of attention, and the catalogue features well over 100 lots with official BHA ratings of 80 or higher. Eye-catching three year olds include the improving Willie McCreery trained colt NEW CLASSICISM, the imposing LOPE DE VEGA colt MENGLI KHAN from Hugo Palmerโ€™s burgeoning Kremlin Cottage Stables, the smart Listed placed BEAR FACED from Sir Mark Prescottโ€™s Heath House Stables and the lightly raced Richard Hannon trained STORM RISING. The Karl Burke trained 4 year old FELIX LEITER heads to the July Sale in top form with a BHA rating of 94 following his latest win over 7 furlongs, and the Roger Varian trained winning two year old PRETTY VACANT also looks to have a bright future.

In addition to highly rated colts and geldings in training the July catalogue also features a healthy number of beautifully bred fillies in and out of training including half sisters to Group 1 winners ALLOW, DOCTOR DINO, FAVOURABLE TERMS, FIDELITE, FOLK OPERA, MAGIC HURRICANE, MARBYE, RAVENโ€™S PASS, REDWOOD, TEGGIANO and TELLING.

Commenting on the 2016 Tattersalls July Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

โ€œWe have catalogued almost 900 lots for this yearโ€™s Tattersalls July Sale and as well as being the largest July Sale since 2008, it is a catalogue of real quality and diversity. The July Sale is a proven source of Group 1 performers and the classic July Sale combination of quality breeding stock and promising horses in training looks set to attract the usual mix of domestic and international buyers.”
