Richard Knight was in action again at the Doncaster Breeze-Up Sales yesterday securing three 2-year-olds with trainers John & Sean Quinn.
The first 2yo purchased was Lot 28 a daughter of European Champion 2yo Dream Ahead and out of the winning 2yo Tatiana Romanova. The filly breezed well on the track and came highly recommended by her trainer William Slattery from whom Moonlightnavigator came from 12 months previously. Not only was the dam a 2yo winner in her own right she has also produced the 92 rated 2yo of 2014 Roossey who was her first foal and this filly her 2nd – she cost £42,000.
The second 2yo purchased was Lot 88 a son of European Champion 3yo Sakhee’s Secret. This colt had plenty of size & scope, breezed well and both John & Sean Quinn had seen him work on the Malton gallops a couple of weeks previously where he had gone very well. He is a horse who is certainly not just a 2yo and you would expect to see improve throughout the year and into his 3yo career – he cost £40,000.
The third 2yo purchased was Lot 177 a son of the high-class sprinter & excellent stallion Pivotal. Pivotal is the sire of Gr.1 winners including Farhh, Kyllachy, Excellent Art, African Story, Immortal Verse to name just a few and this colt is the first foal out of the winning 3yo miler Regal Salute. He was a very racy individual who walked well and breezed well and had plenty of admirers in the sale ring – he cost £110,000.
The breeze-up sales circuit now moves back to Newmarket for the Guineas breeze-up Sale which will be held on Friday May 1st with the horses breezing on the day before, Thursday 30th April.
