Wednesday 1st April saw the first European breeze-up sale underway and Richard Knight & Sean Quinn returned to the scene of where 2014 Gr.1 Prix Morny & Gr.2 Coventry Stakes Winner The Wow Signal was purchased.
The 2015 renewal had attracted both an upgrade in stock and also considerably more potential purchasers than 12 months before but Richard & Sean were still able to come away with 2 smart looking 2yo’s which will be trained by Sean and his father, John Quinn.
The first horse purchased was an Approve colt out of the placed 2yo Drumcliffe Dancer from the family of French 2000 Guineas winner Silver Frost. The colt breezed well on the Ascot turf and clocked a good time on the good-to-soft ground which was probably still a little soft for a grandson of Oasis Dream. On viewing the colt he possessed size, scope and quality and was a correct individual and he came very highly recommended by his breeze-up trainer Michael Fitzpatrick who had purchased him for €19,000 as a yearling. Having vetted clean it was on to the sale ring where he had plenty of admirers but the hammer came down in the right direction at £38,000.
The second horse purchased was a Fast Company filly out of a sister to black-type performers Kamakiri & Road To Love. The filly once again breezed well and clocked a good time and upon inspection looked every inch a 2yo. Her sire Fast Company has made a good start to his Stallion career and was responsible for 2014 Royal Ascot Norfolk Stakes 2yo winner Baitha Alga from his first crop of runners. This racy filly cost £24,000.
The next breeze-up sale is the Tattersalls Craven Sale which is held in Newmarket between the 14-16 April. If you are interested in purchasing at this sale or any other breeze-up sale please make contact with Richard on +44 7769 349240 or email [email protected]
