95% of my business is Flat racing but whenever I’ve been given the chance to purchase a National Hunt horse I have jumped at the opportunity. My late Father was a big National Hunt fan and as a child I spent many a happy afternoon at the local courses of Huntingdon and Towcester and Boxing Day was often spent at Kempton for the King George.
One of my favourite National Hunt purchases to date was a horse called Golden Birthday who I purchased after he was placed 2nd in a Punchestown bumper. He went on to win 10 races for my owner, Gary Stevens including a class 2 over hurdles and switched to the flat where he won at class 3 level.
Since then I have also had the opportunity to purchase some National Hunt foals and last week it was great to see two very cheaply purchased fillies win their novice hurdles. It’s Maisy, a 5yo daughter of Sageburg who I picked up for just €6,000 (despite being a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Shinrock Paddy) won her novice at Sedgefield by 34 lengths. And then it was Forever A Dove’s turn to win a Maiden hurdle at Stratford by 3 lengths – she cost just €2,500.
If National Hunt is your interest and you are considering a store purchase this Spring I would be delighted to help you so please make contact +44 7769 349240 or email [email protected]
