Irish Optimism who was purchased for €47,000 as a yearling won his 3-year-old maiden at Ayr on Monday 25th April in good style. The son of Approve (pictured below as a yearling) has always been well regarded by his trainer John Quinn and showed good speed and battling qualities to get the better of favourite Geno over the 6f distance. Having made his debut in heavy ground over 7f just 2 weeks ago, Irish Optimism did well to handle both the drop in trip and the vastly different ground but took it all in his stride and won with his ears pricked.
