Roberto Escobarr who I purchased from the Goffs Orby yearling sale looked a smart prospect when finishing an unlucky 3rd on debut at Haydock but then looked a very smart prospect when routing the field by 4 lengths at York on Sunday. The son of Galileo was up against a very strong group of novices that included the 2 well regarded prospects Brentford Hope and Matthew Flinders but they were no match for the highly regarded Roberto Escobarr. Under the expert guidance of jockey Ryan Moore, Roberto Escobarr tracked the leaders through the race and galloped clear in the final furlong pulling further clear with every stride to the line. He is a horse who is crying out for a step up to 12 furlongs and he will likely now be upped in class.
Congratulations to his owner Mr Hussain Lootah and to his trainer William Haggas and jockey Ryan Moore.
Later on in the day, Roberto Escobarr’s full brother, Pablo Escobarr ran a very solid 3rd in the Listed Steventon Stakes at Newbury – himself another yearling purchase by myself for owner Mr Hussain Lootah.
