Yearling Purchase Southdown Lad Wins 2YO Maiden on Debut
Richard Knight Bloodstock Agent Ltd Yearling purchase Southdown Lad won his 2-year-old maiden race over 6f on debut today for trainer William Knight and jockey Martin Harley.
The son of Lilbourne Lad was settled just off the pace and quickened well to win by an authoritative 2 lengths at the line. Interestingly Richard had wanted to purchase the colt when he was at the Tattersalls Ireland Yearling Sales but he had to be withdrawn on the day of the sale due to getting cast the night before. Luckily, he returned to the Tattersalls December Yearling Sales where Richard purchased him on behalf of William Knight for 34,000gns.
